Your Local Liberal Democrat Champions for Waterloo

This year you have two wonderful Lib Dem candidates to vote for in Waterloo.

MEET YOUR LOCAL CHAMPIONS

Jane Briggs is standing as your Lib Dem champion in Waterloo.

Jane, who moved to the borough over 25 years ago, has previously represented residents as a Liberal Democrat and looks forward to becoming involved at the council once more. She is a guest lecturer and is an active member of her local church.

Jane said “I am delighted to stand as a Liberal Democrat candidate and to provide an opportunity for local people to choose a councillor who will support local people on local issues.

“If you elect me as your councillor, I will fight for the promises made by the Borough Council to be implemented and for a fair deal for local residents.

"The green spaces are continually under pressure from developers and it is essential that local residents once again have a councillor who will argue for the surrounding green spaces and the issues that matter to local residents, including the need for affordable housing built in the right places.

"As I have lived with my family in Havant Borough for over 20 years I know the area and it is important to me that residents get the best possible support from their Councillors and Councils."

John Pratley is standing as your local Waterloo Ward candidate.

He has lived in the Ward for the past 18 years since retiring, with his extended family all locally based. John and his wife Jean have been married for fifty years.

Working for Citizens Advice, John is a caseworker and generalist adviser. His work and interests give him a unique insight into the issues facing local people and he is particularly passionate about the lack of affordable social and rentable private housing and child care in the area.

Working families are sinking into poverty and this is highlighted by the long-term decline of the Waterlooville town centre which reflects the inability of the current Conservative-led council to manage the finances in a way which promotes growth and addresses the many needs of the community.

At a National level, he is very concerned about the early sexualisation of children through the use of social media.
